Linking Rural Small Business in Parkland County
Barb Scully has a love of small businesses and the self-employed. She’s a mother and a grandmother who has been self-employed for most of her life. When she was growing up, Barb’s parents owned a farm by Lac La Biche as well as a house in town, so she has experience in both environments. Barb now lives in Spruce Grove, where she owned an environmental store for two years. She was also involved with a business and women networking group and is one of three women who run a news and community events periodical for Parkland County called “Talk of the Town.”
Barb is the Green Hectares community facilitator for Parkland County, helping to connect Parkland county residents, organizations with Green Hectares’ programs. She’s been working with halls and community groups in her area and is enthusiastic about making the halls an important part of these smaller communities. Barb is energetic, outgoing, loves Parkland county and believes in the importance of small business. Barb has an interest in sustainability and environmental issues and believes people need to know where their food comes from. It was the focus on agriculture, environmental issues and small business development that attracted her to Green Hectares. If you’re an individual with a rural business or an organization in Parkland County, connect with Barb to learn more about her role with Green Hectares and how she can help through linking to other programs and organizations in Parkland County.
